How to Write The Perfect Conclusion for Your University paper

Endings are always hard but when it comes to writing a conclusion, it is very simple. Whether you are writing a conclusion for an essay, report, or article, and someone told you that the conclusion is the least important part in your paper, they are wrong and do not know what they are talking about. The conclusion is just as important as the introduction and some may find it to be even more important and essential than the introduction because it is what wraps the entire paper together and gives it a nice finishing touch. Do not think because it is the last part of your paper that it’s not essential.

A major mistake that a lot of people make when writing their conclusion, is that they copy and paste the exact words used in the introduction and the main points from the body paragraphs instead of restating and summarizing.

The conclusion is the powerful ending to your powerful paper. It should be a short version of a summarization and should be more general. It is meant to provide the reader with a sense of closure and completion.

The only new information you may include is a final thought or reflection towards the topic. You should not add in extra information that has not been mentioned in your paper. While writing your conclusion you must use the same tone used within the entire paper.

Follow these simple steps in order to write the perfect conclusion:

  1. Restate your thesis statement/main idea

The first step when writing your conclusion is to restate your thesis state, main idea, or topic that you wrote in your introduction. While restating your thesis statement do not exactly repeat it, use a different wording style and not the same one you used in your introduction. When writing this part try to write it in at least 3 or 4 sentences and stick to your original statement.

  1. Summarize your main points

While writing your conclusion it is not right to duplicate all the main points you wrote in your body paragraphs so that you are not repeating yourself. It is essential that you plan to emphasize your key ideas by momentarily summing up your main points.

  1. End it on a powerful note

In the final part of your conclusion it is exceptional to add in your own and personal thoughts and reflections. This is the only part of the conclusion where you can add something extra that you have not previously mentioned in your paper. Try as much as you can not to repeat yourself. The conclusion should leave the reader with an observation and understanding. End your conclusion with a powerful yet emotional close that ties in within your paper. Try to make your last sentence or statement in your conclusion as emotionally driven as possible to end it on a good and meaningful note because it is the last impression for your reader so you need to make it count.

Sentence starters for your conclusion:
