he University of Cambridge is rich in history - its famous Colleges and University buildings attract visitors from all over the world. But the University's museums and collections also hold many treasures which give an exciting insight into some of the scholarly activities, both past and present, of the University's academics and students. The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest universities and leading academic centres, and a self-governed community of scholars. Its reputation for outstanding academic achievement is known world-wide and reflects the intellectual achievement of its students, as well as the world-class original research carried out by the staff of the University and the Colleges. Many of the University's customs and unusual terminology can be traced to roots in the early years of the University's long history, and this booklet looks to the past to find the origins of much that is distinctive in the University of today.

Edexcel is the brand name for academic and general qualifications from Pearson, including GCSEs and A levels, as well as some vocational qualifications, including NVQs and Functional Skills. Designed to advance learners’ skills while developing knowledge, Edexcel’s qualifications help learners either progress to higher education or go directly into employment. They are grounded in the quality and traditions of the British education system made relevant for today’s UK and international learners. In the UK, Edexcel qualifications are suitable for a wide range of learners aged from 14 to 19. International schools can also offer the Edexcel Primary and Lower Secondary Curricula, so learners range from 8 to 19 years old.

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide. We promote the study of German abroad and encourage international cultural exchange.

Comme l’ensemble des 143 Instituts français et Centres culturels français à travers le monde, l’Institut Français d’Egypte (IFE) est un établissement, relevant du Ministère français des affaires étrangères, chargé de promouvoir la coopération culturelle, intellectuelle et audiovisuelle entre professionnels, de valoriser la création contemporaine française et francophone pour tous les publics, de présenter l’enseignement supérieur français auprès des étudiants et enseignants étrangers et de proposer une offre complète d’enseignement de la langue française. Constitué par étapes depuis le 1er janvier 1996, l’Institut Français d’Egypte (IFE) du Caire est né de la fusion de la Mission de recherche et de coopération (MRC) et du Centre Culturel Français (implantations de Mounira et d’Héliopolis). La transformation du Centre Français d’Alexandrie en antenne régionale du CCC et la fusion du Service culturel de l’Ambassade de France avec le CFCC devenu IFE le 24 janvier 2011, ont permis de mettre en place une mission culturelle unique. Il est l’opérateur naturel de l’action culturelle extérieure de la France. Placé sous la tutelle du ministère des Affaires étrangères, il est chargé, dans le cadre de la politique et des orientations arrêtées par l’état, de porter une ambition renouvelée pour la diplomatie d’influence. Il doit contribuer au rayonnement de la France à l’étranger dans un dialogue renforcé avec les cultures étrangères et répondre à la ‘demande de France’ dans une démarche d’écoute, de partenariat et d’ouverture. L’Institut français d’Egypte à Mounira, avec ses annexes à Héliopolis et à Alexandrie, les filières universitaires francophones, l’Université Française d’Egypte, le lycée français du Caire et tous les services de l’Ambassade de France en Egypte constituent un réseau solide, bien ancré, qui atteste de l’intérêt mutuel que se portent nos deux pays.

PASCH stands for the "Schools: Partners for the Future" initiative. It is a global network of some 1,500 schools that place a high value on German. PASCH is an initiative of the Federal Foreign Office in cooperation with the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA), the Goethe-Institut (GI), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Educational Exchange Service of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (PAD).
