Cairo English School (CES) opened in 2006 and has 130 students and now has over 1,500 students from ages 3 to 17. The school is located on a modern campus built in a fast-growing area of New Cairo. The campus includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool, 400m running track, soccer fields, an indoor air-conditioned gym, modern classrooms including fully equipped science laboratories, and ICT suites. CES is a member of Overseas Educational Services Limited (ESOL), a group of eight American and British schools spanning six countries and three continents. The school draws on the collective and professional experience of ESOL schools to help it develop and grow in an organized and well-planned manner. The mission of CES is to provide high quality British international education. The mission of CES is to provide high quality British international education. Faculty members work with parent staff to help students become successful learners, confident individuals, and responsible citizens. Students who leave CES not only possess the knowledge, but the skills to reflect and reflect on what they do, learn and see so that they can grow and develop as individuals at university, their careers, and beyond. CES is a member of the British Schools Middle East (BMSE) and a full member of the Council of International Schools (CIS). The school is also licensed by the International Baccalaureate Organization (based in Geneva, Switzerland) to offer the prestigious IB Diploma. In addition, CES are British overseas schools that have been screened and awarded the Duke of Edinburgh's International Prize. The curriculum at CES follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum leading to the English National Curriculum through IGCSE at the end of Year 10. After successfully completing the IGCSE exams, students can choose the A Levels (the traditional British pathway to university) or the increasingly valuable International Baccalaureate Diploma. The curriculum is rigorous and will allow students to enter the best universities around the world. Although CES is English in character and syllabus, it is sensitive to its location. Therefore, the school provides the necessary Ministry of Education curricula in Arabic, Egyptian Social Studies and Religion for its Egyptian students, and Arabic as a foreign language for non-Arabic speakers. The school also takes students to places of interest around Cairo (eg the Egyptian Museum, Giza Pyramids, Garbage City), and connects these trips to our curriculum. Thus CES ensures that all students leave school with a deep understanding of the local culture. All of our teachers are fully qualified with an initial degree as well as an educational qualification and experience. Most of our teachers are from England, but we have teachers from other countries who are adding to the universality of CES.
