Mr. Saunders graduated from Leicester University in the UK and has over thirty years of experience in education. He spent the first nine years of his career teaching in primary, middle, and high schools in the UK where he was also a Head of Key Stage. He then moved to Thailand in 1998 and became the Director of Studies for a British boarding school. In 2006, he became the headmaster of an international school in China, leading the school to successful authorisation as an IB PYP, MYP and DP school in less than five years.

Mr. Saunders has chaired accreditation teams for the Council of International Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. As a teacher, he has taught all age levels from kindergarten to "A" level. His passion is school improvement and progressive education. Mr. Saunders is a licensed tutor for ‘Teaching ESL Students in the Mainstream Classroom’ and ‘How Language Works’ which are fifty-hour teacher professional development courses. He is married with two daughters.
