Established in 2006, Kafr el sheikh University (KFS) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the suburban setting of the metropolis of Kafr El Sheikh (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Kafr el-Sheikh. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education of Egypt, Kafrelsheikh University (KFS) is a large coeducational Egyptian higher education institution. Kafr el sheikh University (KFS) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 14 years old Egyptian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 70-80% making this Egyptian higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. Kafr El-Sheikh University was established in 2006 by Republican Decree No. 129 on April 19, 2006 AD. Historically, the nucleus of the university’s faculties began at the Higher Agricultural Institute in 1957 AD in Kafr El-Sheikh, and it was affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, which was transformed in 1969 AD into a Faculty of Agriculture affiliated with Alexandria University, and included the faculty To the faculties of Tanta University when it was established in 1973 AD, and in 1977 the Faculty of Education was established, and in 1985 the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was established and the study began in 1991 AD, and in 1988 the Faculty of Specific Education was established - it was affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and then it was transformed in 1991 by Ministerial Resolution No. 1187 to the Faculty of It is affiliated with Tanta University, and in 1992 a branch of the Faculty of Engineering was established, in 1993 a branch of the Faculty of Arts was established, and in 1997 a branch of the Faculty of Physical Education was established.

      When the republican decision was issued to convert the Kafr El-Sheikh branch into a university, the branches of the faculties were transformed into colleges. All faculties of the university are located in the city of Kafr El-Sheikh, and in 2009 the Faculty of Science was established by Republican Decree No. 123 of 2009.

           In 2013, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Fisheries and Fisheries Sciences, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the College of Physiotherapy and the Student Hospital were established to provide the appropriate health service for the treatment of students inside the university instead of the hardship of traveling to receive treatment in Tanta. The College of Dentistry was also established in 2014.

      The College of Computers and Information was established in 2015 and the College of Al-Alsun in 2016. And the Institute of Nano Science and Technology and the Institute for Drug Discovery and Development in 2017. In 2018, the College of Law and the Technical Institute of Nursing were established, and in 2019 the College of Artificial Intelligence was established, bringing the number of university faculties to 19 and three research institutes.

      The university hospital with a capacity of 450 beds was also established based on the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities in its session held on 9/3/2013 and Clause No. (1) of Article 307 of the Executive Regulations of the Universities Organizing Law. The hospital was fully operational in 2016.

     Also, postgraduate studies have been expanded in most colleges and institutes of the university after they were available in only two colleges, so the university made great leaps that we clearly see in the rapid development in research activities, graduate students, and the quality of academic and research programs and the university took rapid steps towards development, until it became one of the most prominent Egyptian universities distinguished themselves in education, scientific research and community service, and the distance with developed countries was narrowed through a first strategic plan that focused on restructuring the university architecturally and academically, completing its structural, human and academic components, and establishing research laboratories and centers of excellence within the university’s colleges with a high degree of technology to build a scientific base as one of the Basic priorities for development This has led to an increase in the rates of publishing scientific research for faculty members in faculties of the university in international scientific journals with impact factors.

      As for the second strategic plan, it focused on excellence in education and scientific research and attention to future sciences such as nanoscience, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence to keep pace with the successive research and scientific changes in the world in accordance with policies related to the needs of society, in addition to paying attention to aesthetic values within the university and establishing many facilities supporting the educational process. In addition to many infrastructure projects such as drainage, water, electricity, sidewalks, green areas and waiting benches, in addition to the maintenance, development and improvement of all the old university facilities such as buildings, laboratories, stadiums and university cities, while providing all the necessary requirements for the development of human cadres and programs, with the expansion of postgraduate studies and in various disciplines to reach the hand of Developing everything to raise the efficiency of the performance of the university’s institutions in a way that guarantees a global competitive ability that qualifies for accreditation and to gain the trust of the community.

     Despite the university's short lifespan, it was able, with God's help and grace, to take a steady step towards globalization and create a distinctive identity for it, after providing the necessary elements for success. This distinction has led to the recognition of the university’s excellence by institutions and bodies whose evaluation is considered, and the university won the title of the best Egyptian university in President Sisi’s competition for the year 2018. The university occupied a distinguished place in the international classifications, including the 601st place in the world in the British Times classification and No. 1 at the local level. The university also achieved the 151st place in the Shanghai classification in veterinary medicine specialties, and the university also achieved the second place locally and Africa at the level of Egyptian universities and the fourth in the Arab world, and 137th globally in the international rankings of “green universities that are environmentally friendly” for the year 2018. In 2019, the university achieved progress in the British Times classification of universities with an economic and social impact on society, so it jumped to the 101-200 position at the level of Egyptian universities and the first place at the level of Egyptian universities.
