Sameh Fouad Habib

Title:Chairman of Metropolitan School
Dr. Habib is the second of three generations in a family of educators in Egypt. As a life- long educator and philanthropist, Dr. Habib has made a significant contribution to education in Egypt and beyond, helping students transform their careers and lives, bringing prosperity to many along the way.
He has owned and operated several KG – 12 schools and institutes throughout Egypt.
Dr. Habib was awarded the Pioneers of Private Education Badge of Honor by the Minister of Education, elected as the private school representative for the Governate of Cairo and is a Member of the Supreme Advisory Committee for Education Development in Cairo.
Dr. Habib was awarded a PhD in Management in 1998.
As a life long educator and philanthropist, Dr. Habib has helped students transform their lives, careers, and prosperity and has made a significant contribution to education in Egypt and beyond.
Seif Sameh Fouad

Title:Member of the Board of Governors of Metropolitan School
Mr. Fouad has developed and launched the Metropolitan School in New Cairo with the aim of providing an outstanding international education while upholding the Egyptian values that he holds dear. Mr. Fouad also recognizes the need to make Metropolitan School graduates ready to compete in the global market, introducing a program in entrepreneurship.
Our Chairman is the owner of the long established St. Fatima Schools in Cairo, with a track record of 10 years of providing high quality affordable education. He is the CEO of the Higher Futures Institute and a Board Member of a charitable senior housing project. Mr. Fouad is a graduate of the French University of Egypt and holds bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Nantes, France.
As a passionate educator and entrepreneur, Mr. Fouad is supporting Metropolitan School to become the leading US curriculum school in Egypt.
Andrew Frezludeen

Title:Executive Director of Metropolitan School
Andrew has been a committed professional in international education for 20+ years.  He has worked on a few continents and is delighted to be joining the team Metropolitan School, where he aims to share his experience, in creating a forward thinking learning environment for the students.   He believes that if students can “learn how to learn, unlearn and relearn”, embrace an international mindset and develop engaged thinking skills, they have the potential to achieve their dreams.

Andrew is from vibrant Toronto, Canada and he speaks English (native language), French, Spanish and some Portuguese.  He completed his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership in the USA and from Canada, he holds his Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts.  His sights are set on pursuing Doctoral studies in education at some point in the future.

Mr. Frezludeen has worked in several countries:  Colombia, Canada, Qatar, Brazil and China.  Highlighting his breadth of experience, in his most recent post, he served as the Headmaster of a high achieving K-12 school in China where graduates excelled in their AP (Advanced Placement) studies and were admitted to top universities.  He was the Founding Director of a brand new school in Colombia, has been part of a new school in Qatar and has served in past schools as a Principal, Vice-Principal and IB Coordinator.  Mr. Frezludeen was a teacher for many years before transitioning to administrative roles and has worked with a variety of different programs and curriculums.  He really enjoys working with people with different cultural backgrounds and from different countries.
As he embodies an international mindset, Andrew has had the privilege to have travelled to 60+ countries during his lifetime.  These rich experiences have allowed him to experience different cultural contexts and experience much of the world. He is extremely excited being in Egypt where he plans to learn more about this important region of the world.  He loves to travel, read about international topics, play basketball and other sports, hiking, jogging and strives to stay in shape by going to the gym.
His motto:  Stay Positive, Focused, Inspired and Healthy!
Anjanette Yarar

Title:Early Childhood Principal of Metropolitan School
Ms. Anjanette Yarar is an American educator with 25 years of experience, four of those being in international schools in the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.  She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in early childhood and elementary education from the University of Montevallo as well as an additional master’s degree in guidance and counseling from the University of West Alabama.  Anjanette believes that learning is a lifelong process; therefore she is currently pursuing her PhD.  
Anjanette has experience in the American, British, and IB curriculums.  Her educational career experience has been as an elementary classroom teacher, elementary and high school guidance counselor, English as a second language specialist for elementary and middle school, kindergarten director, and kindergarten and elementary principal.  She has three children, Madeline (24), Chloe (21), and Miller (18), who live in their home state of Alabama, U.S.A.  When she is not at school, Anjanette enjoys painting, music, and traveling.
Ernie Espino Jr.

Title:Elementary Stage Principal of Metropolitan School
As an educator for 18 years, Mr. Ernie Espino began his teaching career in 2005 as a 4th/5th-grade bilingual teacher in Garland ISD.  After being a classroom teacher for 6 years he decided to take on administrative roles after completing his master’s degree in educational leadership in 2011.

His administrative career began in 2011, serving as an instructional specialist.  In 2012 he accepted a position as the Bilingual Coordinator for the Tomball Independent School District.  He later accepted his first campus leadership role as an assistant principal at Carver Elementary School in Garland.  Shortly after he transitioned over to the secondary level as assistant principal of Naaman Forest High School.  In 2016 Mr. Espino was promoted and opened Weaver Elementary ~ mandarin Chinese and Leadership Magnet School as the campus principal.  Most recently, Mr. Espino has served as the principal of the Universal American School in Kuwait.

Mr. Espino’s expertise lies in overseeing strategic planning, budget administration, instructional program development, and management to create high educational outcomes in academic performance for all students.  He excels at spearheading strategic improvements to drive academic excellence while communicating openly and routinely with his staff, campus administration, and support teams.

In addition to the aforementioned, some of his finer qualities include a niche for restoring campus cultures, educational innovation, and establishing 21st-century learning environments. Aside from having and communicating high expectations for academic success, he also lets his staff members know the equal importance of establishing an atmosphere of trust, collaboration, rapport, and mutual respect.
Furthermore, he prides himself on creating a sense of “community” while also providing parents with appropriate levels of engagement within the academic environment.   He always leads by example and serves as a role model for his staff and students. His favorite quote, “When you surround yourself with great people, great things happen”!

Mr. Ernie Espino Jr. earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Jamestown (formerly Jamestown College) of North Dakota, his master’s degree from Concordia University of Texas and he is currently working on his doctorate degree from Southwestern College of Kansas.
Helen Somerville

Title:Helen Somerville is the Middle and High School Principal of Metropolitan School
Helen has worked in education for over 20 years at both the Middle and High School level. Graduating from Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand with a joint degree in English Literature and Linguistics, Helen soon moved internationally living and working in both the UK and Italy, while traveling extensively through Europe. She came to Egypt in 2000 and has worked in Port Said American School, Misr Language School, and El Alsson American International School as a Middle and High School English and Social Studies teacher as well as a Department Chair. While in El Alsson, Helen completed her M.Ed in Educational Administration and moved into administration as the High School Assistant Principal. When El Alsson moved the campus to New Giza, Helen changed roles, taking over as the Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning. She has extensive experience in curriculum development, teacher professional development, and providing both academic and career guidance for High School. She has a passion for teaching and believes in providing learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Helen enjoys traveling, studying history and global studies, and spending time with her family.
