The American College in Cairo (or CAC) is an American international pre-kindergarten through 12th grade school located in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt. It mainly caters to local US Embassy dependents and other international students. The school is working to recreate the American educational experience within a Middle Eastern country. It was recognized in 2014 by the School Academy Awards as the best school in the Middle East and Africa. CAC offers students the International Baccalaureate Diploma. The International Baccalaureate Diploma is a globally recognized syllabus by which students gain entry to the best universities and colleges around the world. The American College in Cairo is a non-profit school.
CAC follows the "American Education Reaches Out" (AERO) standards. The International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs are offered within high school, giving students the option to opt in or out, tailored to individual educational needs. Starting in the eleventh grade, students may choose to pursue an International Baccalaureate Diploma.
The American College in Cairo is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Council of International Schools. The American College in Cairo is a member of the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) and the Near East and South Asian Council of Schools Abroad (NESA).
