An overview of the institute
The Higher Institute of Languages Heliopolis was established on the ninth of December 1993 AD, and the educational activity began in the academic year 1994/1995.
The bachelor’s degree awarded by the institute has been equalized according to the degree granted by Egyptian universities subject to the Universities Organization Law No. 49 of 1972 and its executive regulations from the faculties of languages in the corresponding disciplines.
The goals of the institute
The institute aims to graduate cadres who are fluent in foreign languages in writing and speaking, and with an interest in translating from and into the national language. The institute qualifies graduates to work in the fields of translation, tourism, investment companies, banks, and all activities that use foreign languages on the one hand, and to strengthen relations with the countries of the world in all scientific, social, cultural and economic activities on the other hand. The duration of the study is four years and each academic year is divided into two academic semesters, and the student is transferred to the higher division if he is successful in all the courses of the two semesters of the division, or he is transferred backward if he has failed in two subjects at most and remains for repetition in the same class in which he is enrolled if he has failed in more than Two subjects, and the major is from the first year.
- The institute also accepts holders of higher qualifications (bachelor’s - bachelor’s) previous years to obtain a bachelor’s degree in languages from the institute and the application is made directly through the institute.
The mission of the institute is not limited only to teaching students academically and refining their scientific skills, but this role extends to teaching students how to deal positively in working life so that the student is able to integrate into society and this is what the Youth Welfare Department does, which provides many student activities throughout the year. Academic level to push the student to engage in university life, including, but not limited to:
- Sports activity and what follows that in organizing sports tournaments and participating in the Ministry of Higher Education league through team and individual sports, whether that depend on physical effort such as football and basketball, or those that focus on mental effort such as chess.
- Social activity and the subsequent participation in the Festival of Distinguished Families organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and the holding of different parties such as the orphan's day party and graduation ceremonies for students.
- Cultural activity and what follows that of participation in zajal, short story, poetry and other cultural competitions, and the organization of the institutes ’internal periodicals in story, poetry, zajal and others.
- Artistic activity and what follows that of holding concerts with the participation of a group of talented students in playing and organizing art exhibitions for the gifted.

The administration of the institute has always been providing safety for its students by providing all medical services to them by establishing medical care to meet any emergency situation at high speed and to give the student what he needs in aid, to skip the stage of danger or move to the most specialized medical authorities if his illness requires that.
English department
One of the four main departments of the Higher Institute of Languages has been established and operating since the announcement of the Higher Institute of Languages, a higher academic institution affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, and subject to the laws and regulations of the Supreme Council of Universities in 1993.
The department awards a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature, with a certificate approved and notarized by the Ministry of Higher Education, and it includes among the faculty members the expertise of specialists in the branches of English language and literature and those with the highest academic qualifications.
The duration of the study in the English Language Department is four academic years aimed at graduating human cadres, qualified to compete in the local, regional and international labor markets with efficiency and distinction in the fields of teaching, translation, tourism guidance, hotel and air services, in addition to the financial and business sector, through Study specialized programs in linguistic and literary studies, and written and oral translation training, based on a set of specialized textbooks and modern audio-visual aids available in the institute’s library and phonics lab.

Department of French Language
The French Language Department is one of the four departments of the institute and it grants the student a BA in the French language and is keen to graduate qualified human cadres to work in the local and regional markets in the field of translation, tourism and other fields by providing distinguished programs and activities in education that are in line with the requirements of the labor market so that the student can meet The end of the school years with the issuance of sound vocal exits by means of pronunciation and phoneme of letters as well as mastering the grammar of the language with the use of expressive reading for the correct understanding of the French language.
The French Language Department relies on teaching on audiovisual aids and using laboratories to take advantage of new technologies so that the student can acquire speaking and listening skills and the ability to understand, analyze and express.

German Language Department
The German language department is one of the languages departments at the Higher Institute of Languages in Heliopolis, which began with the beginning of work at the institute in 1993.
The department is one of the important departments in the institute that receives a number of students seeking to learn the German language as a first language (specialization) in addition to another European language as a second language.
The department includes a group of specialized and qualified German language teaching professors with the highest academic degrees.
The program of study is varied by the department, which is balanced with the needs of students and achieves mastery of language skills of conversation, understanding and expression.
It starts with an intensive program to teach the language for beginners and then progresses in diversifying between the linguistic specialties and disciplines associated with the German culture, in addition to various literary texts and directions for their interpretation, as well as translation studies with all its different applications that meet the needs of the literal diversity of translation between oral, applied, sequential and immediate translation in line with the development in the labor market .
Department of Spanish Language
