Located in the beautiful seaside town of El Gouna on the Red Sea, only 25 km from Hurghada International Airport and approximately 4-hour drive to Cairo, El Gouna International School (EGIS) is an essential part of the community infrastructure for families who choose to settle down in this fully integrated and self-sufficient town, which includes a vibrant expat community. El Gouna is a project of Orascom Development and is known for being Egypt’s greenest and most environmentally friendly city, attracting tourists from around the world; featuring 18 hotels, numerous restaurants, bars and eateries, 3 marinas, as well as, a fully equipped international hospital. Cultural events and festivals are usually organised, such as the popular El Gouna Film Festival.
EGIS offers the British Curriculum, and the Egyptian Language School Curriculum as separate school sections, in addition to the German Language DSD Programme for students in both sections. EGIS is accredited by the Ministry of Education and is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME). Our school is also affiliated with the British Council as an approved center for Cambridge (CAIE) and Edexcel (Pearson) exams.
For the past 4 years, the community in El Gouna and the Red Sea have grown more supportive of our endeavours to give our students the very best education, which we do through our values of excellence, unity, optimism, and by promoting good behaviour, self-discipline and respect. EGIS is very special, not just for its unique location but because we have a learning environment to be proud of: a cohesive governing body, a team of very hardworking teachers and support staff, an emerging proactive parental body; and as a result, pupils are more engaged, enthusiastic and proud of their school. We have worked very hard these past few years in gaining the trust of our parents. We continually do this by ensuring the wellbeing of our students especially during such challenging times brought about by the pandemic.
