In 1998 Prof. Dr. Gamal Nawara finally realized his long-standing wish to found a German school. He, who had spent many years as a student, but also later with his family in Germany, wanted to create a small piece of Germany in Egypt and at the same time offer children in this country the opportunity to do a German Abitur without leaving their home country or family to have to.
To achieve this, he took on the financial burdens, the high entrepreneurial risk and the extra work that went with it. He is personally pleased that his grandchildren are now attending school.
His most important goal, however, was to give all parents who in some way feel connected to the German language, German culture or German schooling the opportunity to give their children the same opportunity that they might once have had by living in Germany or attending a German school. Even if the children do not speak any German at all, they can gradually learn the language starting in kindergarten and can use it to converse with it without any problems and follow the lessons at the latest in elementary school.
